Easy and Inexpensive DIY Halloween Costume

I can't believe its already Halloween week! I love everything about Halloween. The cute kiddos dressed in their costumes, warm drinks, soups for days, spooky movies on tv. It's the best. And even more exciting are the fun holidays that follow! This really is the best time of the year.

For the last five years I have sat by my front door on Halloween night sooo excited to pass out candy to all the cute kiddos dressed up and for the last five years I have had zero trick or treaters. Yep. None. I was so depressed I ended up eating all the candy. :p Anyway, I have high hopes for this year because we live in a subdivision. I mean kids live in subdivisions, right? If not, I literally give up. I can't keep going through this heartache.

So with that being said, I decided it might be fun to dress up this year. I decided to practice before the big day. I suckered Hudson into being the Cowardly Lion with a few treats and I gotta say, he totally nailed his part. I went as the modern day Scarecrow. I tried to get Justin to dress up as Dorothy, but he declined. I originally planned to dress up as Dorothy myself, but I only found the slutty Dorothy options and I'm just not into that sort of thing. :p Besides, I didn't want to spend that much money. Especially if my doorbell doesn't ring at all on Saturday night. So here is what I came up with for about $5 and 20 minutes of my time.

Nailed it, Hudson.
Don't worry Mommy, I'm not really scary. :p

So what do you think? Super cute and easy right? Here are a couple of closer pictures of my makeup. I used everything I had on hand. Although I would suggest a dark black eyeliner for the lines since it will really bring it out more. I only had brown and I did not feel invested enough in this costume to run to the store. ha! I put my makeup on as normal and then just used some red lipstick and eyeliner for all of the fun scarecrow looking stuff! Anyone could do this, and I hope you do!

Source List-
"Straw Hat"- Had
Flannel- Had but probably bought at Target
Overalls- $5 at Savers Thrift Store
Lion Costume for Hudson- $7 at Target

That's it! What do you guys think? Easy peasy. I love that silly dog of mine! Oh and things are moving right along with our kitchen, I think I might be able to reveal in a week or so! Yay! Happy Tuesday!
